  • Is student medical insurance available?

The University of Richmond requires all students to have full health insurance coverage. The Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) ensures that students have access to both comprehensive health insurance and health care while attending the University. Domestic students who are U.S. Citizens, Dual Citizens of the U.S. and another country, or U.S. Permanent Residents must either enroll in the SHIP or waive the SHIP by demonstrating comparable insurance coverage.

All international students at the University of Richmond on non-immigrant visas are required to purchase SHIP and are automatically enrolled in the student health insurance plan unless they can provide adequate proof of comparable insurance coverage.

Information and enrollment for the 2022-2023 is available on the Student Health Insurance Website. Information on the 2023-2024 plan will be available late spring.

  • How do I request ADA accommodations?

Any student requesting accommodations for disabilities must apply through the University’s Office of Student Development. Required forms and information can be found on the Disability Services Page. We would encourage you to complete these forms early summer so that your accommodations can be solidified and that you will be prepared for the start of the semester.

For specific questions, please contact Alex Sklut, Associate Dean of Students, at asklut@richmond.edu.

  • I’m an international student. Will I be considered ESL and allowed extra time?

TOEFL or IELTS scores are typically required of any student who has completed their undergraduate or other advanced degrees at a non-English speaking institution.

Any student who submits a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score is automatically considered ESL and provided special testing arrangements.

Applicants who have an approved request for an exception to policy on the submission of English testing scores are not considered ESL and will not be provided additional time.

Dean Sklut, Associate Dean of Students, will contact you early in the fall semester with additional details.

  • Do I need to submit another transcript?

All students must submit a final transcript that includes language showing the date your degree was conferred. All transcripts must be processed through the CAS system. This will update automatically when LSAC processes your final transcript and can only be checked off by LSAC. If your final transcript is not checked off on your status checker, we do not have your transcript. We know that some of you have not yet graduated; therefore, this is due July 1.

We know this is a very exciting time and that you will have a lot more questions going forward. We will add additional information both to this page and the website in the coming weeks. In the meantime, if you have any specific questions before then, please reach out to us at lawadmissions@richmond.edu
